Cleveland St 2014
The Australia Post building on Cleveland St in Redfern is undergoing a 40 million dollar refurbishment and, with the project scheduled for completion in 2014, Buildcorp hired me to design and develop a blog style website, so they could document the different stages of the fitout and also, to act as an information hub to keep building residents, tenants and other interested parties informed and up to date.
With such a potentially broad audience using the site, the main requirements of the brief were to make it as user friendly as possible, whilst maintaining a high aesthetic level and, to ensure every content component of the site could be managed by Buildcorp staff easily on a daily basis.
In terms of functionality, the standard Wordpress article/category system was retained. However, the not so standard aspect is the pages in the menu list the articles relating to each category, which lends itself nicely to the overall the blog-meets-website feel.
Other custom features include:
- A responsive, full screen background slideshow with a 'slideshow only' display option.
- Content galleries and slideshows
- Recent posts with thumbnails and monthly archive links, the standard blog features that help users drill the content they are looking for. In this instance however, served up in a more usable and aesthetically pleasing manner.
- A stand alone sidebar image gallery with lightbox, for those who just want to look at pics.
Plus of course, as per standard with any work I do with Wordpress, every feature and component is client manageable.
